Kitchen Religion Philosophy
The preparation, offering, and distribution of prasadam for the satisfaction of Lord Krishna and His devotees, and the purification of our existence, as well as that of all souls, is the essence of the Kitchen Religion philosophy. It is a purely spiritual and sacred activity, and also the duty and service of all Vaisnavas, even in the spiritual world. Srila Prabhupada stressed these things over and over in his writings, lectures, and conversations, as well as by his
personal example. And Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and His associates also exhibited innumerable pastimes related to prasadam. Prasadam is so intrinsic and fundamental to our lives as devotees that we can hardly imagine our devotonal existence without it. Its importance is even the subject of one of the eight verses glorifying the spiritual master:
"The spiritual master is always offering four kinds of delicious foods to the Lord analyzed as that which is licked, chewed, drunk, and sucked. When the spiritual master sees that his disciples are satisfied by taking bhagawat prasadam, he is satisfied. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master."
Kitchen Religion Books
The purpose of this website is to provide devotees with cookbooks and other books on the subject of prasadam and its importance. The first of such books is a series of quantity cooking cookbooks under the name, The Kichen Religion Series. This will be the first of its kind in the Hare Krishna movement and we hope it will fill a need amongst Krishna Kitchen cooks worldwide. Each book in the series will focus on a particular food category such as Rice, Vegetables, Soups, etc. with
our supreme offering to the devotee world being The Great 108 Halava Flavors Cookbook. Future books planned are Prasadamrta, a collection of all Srila Prabhupada's quotes related to prasadam and food in general, and The Glories of Krishna Prasadam, a delineation of all aspects of the Kitchen Religion such as cooking standards, the spiritual power of prasadam, restaurants, yajna, prasadam stories, and much more.
